Larry Sanders (born November 21, 1988 in Fort Pierce , Florida ) is a retired American basketball player who last played for the Milwaukee Bucks in the National Basketball Association .

college

He attended Port St. Lucie College and then Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). After his junior year, he announced in April 2010 that he was leaving the VCU to enroll in the NBA draft .

NBA

In the 2010 NBA Draft , he was drafted 15th by the Milwaukee Bucks. On February 21, 2011 he was loaned to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA D-League . On February 28, he was called back to the Milwaukee Bucks. His best game so far he played in a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves , in which he reached 10 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocks. The 2013/14 season ended Sanders with 2.8 blocks per game as the second best shot blocker in the league. In the election for the NBA Most Improved Player Award , he landed in third place.

On August 20, 2013 Sanders signed a 44 million US dollar doped four-year contract with the Bucks.

Due to a bar fight in which he injured himself, Sanders was out for 25 games. He completed only 23 games in the season and could not confirm the performance from the previous season. In April 2014, Sanders was negative again when he tested positive for marijuana on a drug test . As a punishment, he was suspended for five games. During the 2014/15 season, Sanders was again suspended for 10 games for a drug offense. On February 18, 2015, Sanders and the Bucks agreed to terminate the contract immediately. Sanders will receive $ 40 million from his due and $ 13 million from the Bucks. Sanders announced that he would quit playing basketball after his contract was terminated and went to a hospital to fight his depression .

On January 26, 2017, Sanders announced that he would return to the NBA. On March 13, 2017, he signed a contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers until the end of the season, after Andrew Bogut , who was originally intended for the center position, was seriously injured in his first game for the "Cavs".
