Larvik Line was a shipping company that operated shipping routes between Frederikshavn and Larvik , and between Frederikshavn and Fredrikstad .
history
The shipping company was founded in 1936 as "Larvik-Frederikshavnferjen A / S" and started operating on July 4, 1937 with the Peter Wessel on the Larvik - Frederikshavn route. As early as 1936, the route was operated once with the Isefjord . It served the routes Frederikstad - Larvik - Frederikshavn, Frederikstad - Frederikshavn and Larvik - Frederikshavn until 1968. As early as 1961, the Cord Adeler was put into operation, which served the Larvik - Frederikshavn route until 1970. In 1968 a new Peter Wessel was put into operation, which served the route Larvik - Frederikshavn until 1971. In 1973 the Ateliers & Chantiers du Havre shipyard delivered a new Peter Wessel , "Larvik-Frederikshavnferjen" operated the ferry until 1984. In 1984 the ferry Peter Wessel (IV) was bought. In 1988 the name was changed to "Larvik Line". In 1992, Larvik Line chartered the Nord Estonia ferry from Nordström & Thulin and renamed it Thor Heyerdahl . In the summer of 1996, the Larvik Line also chartered the high-speed ferry Albayzin and operated it on the Larvik - Skagen route . In 1997 Color Line took over the last ship, the Peter Wessel, and thus also the shipping company of the Larvik Line.
