Lauren Barfield (born March 15, 1990 in Tacoma , Washington ) is an American volleyball player . She has been playing for the German Bundesliga club SSC Palmberg Schwerin since 2016 and was German champion and cup winner with the club.

Career

Barfield began her career at Newport High School in Bellevue . From 2008 to 2011 she studied at the University of Washington and played huskies on the university team. In 2012 she moved to the Austrian Bundesliga club ASKÖ Linz Steg , with whom she was Austrian runner-up in the 2012/13 season and reached the quarter-finals in the European Challenge Cup . Then she went to Poland to LTSL Legionowo .

In 2014, the middle blocker switched to the German Bundesliga club Köpenicker SC . The club was relegated in the 2014/15 Bundesliga season , but stayed in the league. A year later, Barfield came with Koepenick in the playoff quarter-finals . Then she moved to Schweriner SC . With the club she was defeated in the 2016/17 season in the cup final against Allianz MTV Stuttgart , but then she became German champion . At the beginning of the next season Schwerin also managed to win the VBL Supercup . In the 2017/18 DVV Cup , Barfield made it to the semi-finals with Schwerin this time and defended the title in the Bundesliga . In the 2018/19 season Schwerin won the cup final against Stuttgart, while the playoff final was lost to the same opponent. In the 2019/20 DVV Cup , Barfield made it to the semi-finals with the club. When the Bundesliga season was canceled shortly before the playoffs, Schwerin was in first place in the table. Barfield will also play for Schwerin in the 2020/21 season.
