Bell warming up 2013

The Pittsburgh Steelers picked Bell 48th in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Shortly after, he signed a four-year contract for 4.12 million dollars . Due to an injury, he came for the first time on the fourth game day against the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL used, where he ran 57 yards and two touchdowns.

His breakthrough came in the 2014 season , when he rose from rookie to all-pro . Only the running back of the Dallas Cowboys , DeMarco Murray , achieved more yards in the running game or gained space overall this season. However, Bell caught the most balls and the most yards per catch among running backs. He set a record for the Steelers by gaining more than 100 yards of space in seven games in a row at the start of the season. He also set Walter Payton's record for three games in a row, gaining more than 200 yards of space.

At the beginning of the 2015 season, he was caught with marijuana along with LeGarrette Blount and banned for the first four games. The penalty was later reduced to three and then two games. On matchday eight he suffered a knee injury against the Cincinnati Bengals and was out for the rest of the season.

In the 2016 season he was suspended for the first four games because of a missed drug test, and for the first three games of the season after a reduction in the sentence.

After the season, Bell and the Steelers could not agree on a new contract. The Steelers then occupied Bell in the following two seasons with the Exclusive Franchise Tag , which limited his negotiating options to the Steelers. In the 2017 season , he then sat out the entire off- and preseason. Still, he managed to run 1,291 yards, the third best value of the season. In the 2018 season , he did not sign the franchise day contract before the trade deadline and was therefore not used in the 2018 season.

New York Jets

After the Steelers let his contract expire, Bell signed a four-year deal for $ 52.5 million with the New York Jets on March 13, 2019 . With the Jets, Bell fell well short of expectations in the first season, he ran 789 yards with only 3.2 yards of space gain per run.
