Lea Desandre

Lea Desandre (* 1993 ) is a French - Italian opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Lea Desandre completed twelve years of ballet training and studied in Paris and Venice singing to their teachers, among other things, Sara Mingardo , Véronique Gens , Vivica Genaux and Valérie Guillorit.

In 2013 she won first prize as a young artist at the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux . After winning the Jardin des Voix competition of the Académie des Arts Florissants by William Christie , she was engaged for several productions by his ensemble Les Arts Florissants , a tour under the direction of William Christie took her to the Sydney Opera House , to Tchaikovsky, among others Hall in Moscow and at the Philharmonie de Paris . In 2016 she won the HSBC Prize at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence as well as the special prize resonances of the Cesti competition as part of the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music . In 2017 she was honored as a vocal discovery at the Victoires de la Musique Classique .

In 2018 she made her debut in Salzburg in La Périchole by Jacques Offenbach at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival , in summer 2018 she could be heard at the Salzburg Festival in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea as Amore and Valletto under the direction of William Christie. In 2019 she performed at the Whitsun Festival in the oratorio La morte d'Abel by Antonio Caldara as well as a Farinelli gala with Cecilia Bartoli and in summer 2019 as Vénus in Orphée aux enfers . In August 2020 she was the chambermaid Despina at the Salzburg Festival in Così fan tutte, staged by Christof Loy .

The roles she has embodied include the title role in Alcione by Marin Marais , Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia , Annio in La clemenza di Tito , Urbain in Les Huguenots , Sesto in Giulio Cesare , Flerida in Erismena by Francesco Cavalli , and Messagera in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo and Dido in Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell .

Further engagements have taken her to the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Opéra-Comique in Paris, the Theater an der Wien and the Wiener Musikverein , the Grand Théâtre de Genève and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

As a chamber musician, she has appeared with the lutenist Thomas Dunford and his ensemble Jupiter, among others. As a concert singer she could be heard, for example, in Bach's Magnificat under Emmanuelle Haïm . In her productions she has worked with conductors such as John Eliot Gardiner , Jordi Savall , Marc Minkowski , Christophe Rousset and Leonardo García Alarcón .
