History and structure
At the end of the 1980s, the German boat designer Kusch Yachts was commissioned by a British officer to develop a yacht. He placed the order with the East German Peene shipyard. The yacht was built from a steel hull with a bulbous bow , the deck structure with a total of six decks is made of aluminum . The interior was originally designed in Hamburg by the interior designer Heinz Vollers and the English designers Katalin Landon and Pauline Nunns - the yacht was overhauled in 1998.
Before the finishing work was completed, the yacht was sold to Sir Gosling, who made money owning car parks in the UK. Gosling, a former Royal Navy officer , named the yacht after the first ship he served on, Leander .
