Leandro Cabrera , full name Leandro Daniel Cabrera Sasía (born June 17, 1991 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.87 meter tall defensive player is the grandson of the Uruguayan national player José Sasías and the brother of the soccer player Rodrigo Cabrera . He was at least in the Clausura 2009 in the first division squad of Defensor Sporting . In that half series he played five games in the Primera División . He did not score a hit. He also played in four Copa Libertadores matches (no goal). His transfer rights were at the time with his agent Daniel Fonseca . He then moved to Spain in June 2009, where he first played four first division games (no goal) for Atlético Madrid in the 2009/10 season . In the course of the transfer, Madrid reportedly paid 1.5 million euros for the purchase of 50% of the transfer rights. His previous employer did not receive any transfer compensation due to the ownership structure shown. In the 2010/11 season he played in the Segunda División as part of a loan for Recreativo de Huelva . There are eleven missions recorded for him (no goal). He then moved within Spain on loan to Numancia , where he was used 33 times in the second division in 2011/12. He scored his first league goal for a club on the Iberian Peninsula in the 2012/13 season when he was also on loan from Hércules CF. He ran 39 times there in the Segunda División. His contract with Atlético Madrid ran until the end of the 2013/14 season. In the plans of Atlético coach Diego Simeone , however, Cabrera does not play a role. Nevertheless, he was in the Madrid squad at the beginning of the season, but was not used there in the current 2013/14 season. (Status: September 1, 2013) On September 2, 2013, his contract termination with Atlético and his subsequent move to Real Madrid Castilla was announced. There he played 33 games (no goal) in the Liga Adelante in 2013/14 . In the 2014/15 season he moved to Real Saragossa . In the 2014/15 season he was used 38 times (one goal) in the Liga Adelante and once (no goal) in the Copa del Rey . During the 2015/16 season, 35 second division appearances (two goals) and one game (no goal) in the national cup followed. In the 2016/17 season he made 38 league games (two goals).

In 2017 Cabere moved to the Italian first division club FC Crotone on a free transfer . But already during the winter break it was awarded to the Spanish first division club Getafe for six months .

National team

Cabrera was part of the Uruguayan U-20 selection at the U-20 South American Championship in 2009 and the U-20 World Championship in the same year . The U-20 also took part in the U-20 South American Championship 2011 and the U-20 World Championship that year. In the course of the two World Cup tournaments, he was used four times (2009) and three times (2011). At the two South American Championships in 2009 he came six times (two goals) and two years later in nine games (no goal) to train. Cabrera was also part of the U-23 squad set up by national coach Óscar Tabárez in the run-up to the 2012 Summer Olympics .
