occupation

Living with the Energiewende is a German viral advertising film from 2012 by Frank Farenski and its topic is the switch to renewable energies . The open source film was financed by payments from the companies shown.

content

The film leads to various entrepreneurs and politicians who work in the context of the energy transition. Analogous to the version coding of free computer programs , updated versions of the film were published on YouTube . Living with the energy transition 1.6 was the last version before a new edition was published .

Accompanying campaign and funding

The film was not shown in the regular cinema program, but in individual screenings, which were accompanied by the director . According to Farenski, there were 104 demonstrations in 86 cities by the end of 2013. A symbolic entrance fee had to be paid; it corresponded to the rounded increase in the EEG surcharge at the beginning of the year (in 2014 one euro cent). After the demonstration, discussions were held. These events were often organized by environmental organizations, such as the BUND regional association RP or AntiAtomBonn .

The payments from the companies and entrepreneurs depicted financed the shooting. For example, the supporters could buy film modules and were presented in detail, received DVDs of the film and the raw material in HD quality for their own use. The price for this was 2,500 euros, for a further 5,000 euros an advertising film for the company was also offered.

The collaboration with Care-Energy was very close : “... an intensive collaboration between Frank Farenski and Martin Richard Kristek was decided. Care-Energy supports the film and the screenings. ”Farenski continued to create several advertising films for the controversial electricity provider, moderated a press conference and created a long-term commercial for Care-Energy with the“ CareEnergyTV ”path with the War Room . The EEG opponent Martin Kristek and his colleagues have their say at irregular intervals .

Reviews

  • The taz reported on the film even before the film started .
  • In Der Spiegel there was a negative report about the broadcast of an alleged derivative on ZDFinfo . Station boss Robert Bachem then made it clear to Frank Farenski, according to his own statement, that renewable energy would be a taboo subject for him in the future.

“The special interest broadcaster ZDF info is in need of an explanation because of its documentary 'Living with the energy transition' that was broadcast in May. Filmmaker Frank Farenski had a movie version of the same name sponsored by participating companies from the solar industry. "

continuation

The premiere of a new edition of the film took place in Stuttgart on January 28, 2014 . "Living with the energy transition 2" is officially presented by Care-Energy. "
