action

At the behest of the sect leader Jonas, a member of a native people poisoned three apostate disciples of the Purification Community with a blowpipe : a woman at Niagara Falls and two men in wintry New York . A little later, the assassin dies in a traffic accident in the metropolis. The police found a color film on the murderer of Asian origin that contained recordings of a “bestial” native cult in the presence of the missing Diana Morris, a cult supporter. The FBI consequently suspects a connection between the series of murders, the missing Diana and the fanatical sect leader Jonas. Sheila, Diana's sister, is therefore asked to view the footage - but initially without result.

The worried Sheila starts further research on her own and finally gets on the trail of her sister, who lives in the middle of the jungle of New Guinea, far from any civilization. Sheila follows these tracks and hires the American adventurer and Vietnam veteran Mark as a guide. Together the two embark on an exhausting march, encountering sect members who receive them hostile, as well as natives who eat cannibalistically . In the middle of the rainforest, Sheila and Mark are picked up by another group of sectarians and taken to the settlement of the religious movement, where the sadistic sect leader and his followers surrender to total purification and live according to specially established rules. The chief explains to the uninvited guests that a return to civilization is no longer possible. An escape is also almost hopeless due to "primitive" cannibal tribes in the area. Furthermore, the guard of the sect, which holds sinful members accountable even far away from home, makes it difficult to escape.

Sheila finds Diana in the camp, who is being held here against her will. The sect leader tries to manipulate the newcomers with regular drug doses, which are mainly used for submission, which he immediately succeeds in with the apathetic Sheila, while Mark is not subject to his influence. When the adventurer secretly leaves the settlement with Sheila, Diana and a helping native, the four fugitives are separated into two groups. Sheila and Mark remain unharmed, while Diana and the escape helper are first mistreated by Jonas' henchmen, later mutilated, killed and eaten by cannibals.

At the end of the film, Mark and Sheila are flown out of the crisis region in dire straits and harassed by hunting cannibals, while Jonas, fearful of approaching helicopters, organizes a mass suicide with his approximately 80 followers, whereby purification members who are unwilling to commit suicide are unceremoniously murdered. Jonas' body is not found, it has disappeared.

The lexicon of the horror film wrote that the production was "nonsense" , a "disgusting piece of dirty cinema!"

Remarks

The film scenes were shot in New York City and Sri Lanka .
