Ledenitzen , Slovene Ledince , is a village with about 1000 inhabitants in the south of Carinthia in Austria .

Geographical location

The village of Ledenitzen is located about 14 kilometers southeast of Villach on the southeast edge of the Villach basin between the Drau in the north and the Karawanken in the south. The striking Mittagskogel ( 2145  m above sea level ) and its surroundings shape the townscape. The mountain is mostly depicted from the Ledenitz side, among other things in the seals and in the coat of arms of the former local community.

history

From 1911 to 1973 Ledenitzen was an independent municipality, before 1911 Ledenitzen belonged to the municipality of Rosegg . As part of the community reform in 1973, part of the community came back to Rosegg with the KG Berg, the village of Ledenitzen with the KG Ferlach has since been part of the market town of Finkenstein am Faaker See .

Economy and Infrastructure

There are no fortresses and palaces in the former municipal area, and there are also largely no prominent settlement areas. The area is structured in a rural way to this day, and a certain number of tourist facilities have been added in recent decades. The Faaker See, which is heavily used for tourism in summer, is located about two kilometers west of the center of Ledenitzen.

The Faakersee Straße (B 84) and the Villach – Rosenbach railway line , which is now used by Line 2 of the Carinthia S-Bahn , run through the local area . From the Ledenitzen stop, you can continue your journey with regular buses.

Since autumn 1998, the multilingual Ringa raja kindergarten in Ledenitzen, which emerged from the Slovenian cultural association Jepa-Baško jezero , has made it possible for preschoolers to learn both national languages and Italian through play.
