Leimbach is a district of Heringen (Werra) in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in East Hesse .

Geographical location

Leimbach is located in East Hesse northeast of the main town and borders directly on Heringen. State road 3172 runs through the village .

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1366 with the name Wostenleymbach . The place name is derived from the old word leimo (clay). In that year Hermann von Hornsberg sold his property in "Wostenleymbach" to Hans von Heringen. In 1432 Leymbach came to the Landgraviate of Hesse ( Friedewald Office ) when the Heringen court was bought . The half-deserted village of Leimbach in herring was 1433 and 1476 fuldisches fief those of Boyneburg . In the 16th century, the Leimbach desert was repopulated.

On December 31, 1971, Leimbach was incorporated into the municipality of Heringen (Werra) as part of the regional reform in Hesse .
