Leopold Otto Freiherr von Gaudi (* 1728 in Spandau ; † September 11, 1789 in Berlin ) was a Prussian Real Secret Minister of State, War and Finance at the General Directorate, and head of the Department for East and West Prussia.

Life

Origin and family

Leopold Otto came from the Prussian noble family von Gaudy . His parents were the heir to Paddeim and Laukischken , as well as Colonel and Commander of Infantry Regiment No. 2 Andreas Ernst von Gaudi (1686–1745) and Maria Elisabeth von Grävenitz (1691–1774). The Prussian Chamber Director Carl Friedrich Ludwig von Gaudi (1734–1784) and the also Prussian Lieutenant General Friedrich Wilhelm von Gaudi (1725–1788) were his brothers.

He married Louise Freiin von Viereck (1745–1806) for the third time in Berlin in 1788 . From a previous marriage he had the daughter Marie Amalie Charlotte von Gaudi (1768–1786).

Career

Gaudi began his career in the Prussian Army in the infantry regiment "von Puttkamer," then became the Infantry Regiment "Schlichting" the lieutenant and as such in 1757 his farewell get.

Afterwards he retired to his estate Pellen to cultivate it. In 1768 he became director of the fire society in the Brandenburg - Neuhausen district . Finally, in 1770, he found employment as interim president at the Magdeburg War and Domain Chamber . From November 1775 he was Minister in the General Directorate responsible for East and West Prussia . In 1786 he was raised to the Prussian baron rank . In recognition of his services, he was taken care of as governor in Fischhausen in December .
