history
The approximately 321 hectares large Waldhufendorf was 1,328 as Lewbatein first mentioned. The name is derived from the Slavic tribe l'ub- , in German dear , a place or person name. The place belonged to the Voigtsberg office until the 19th century . With the iron ore deposits exploited here as early as the 14th century, a well-known hammer forge was established. It later became the Leubetha hammer mill , which developed into a regional commercial location in the 19th century.
From 1875 the municipality of Leubetha belonged to the Oelsnitz administration and then to the Oelsnitz district and, since the first Saxon district reform , to the Vogtlandkreis. On January 1, 1999 the community was transferred to the town of Adorf / Vogtl. incorporated.
The border between the dioceses of Regensburg and Naumburg ran through the village along the Eisenbach . As a result, the residents of the village were parish in two different parishes until 1940.
