The ship was built in 1994 under the hull number 5923 at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo , Italy . The launching of the ship took place on 6 November 1993 in June 1994 it was delivered to Tirrenia di Navigazione and first in the Mediterranean used. On November 14, 2012, a fire broke out in the engine room of the ship near Lipari while it was en route from Messina to Civitavecchia without passengers .
In the early summer of 2013 the ship was taken over by Giovanni Visentini and refurbished and painted white in a Greek shipyard for 500,000 US dollars . In June 2013 the ship was named Levante . It was chartered by the Greek Harmonica Lines , which wanted to use the ship on the connection between Brindisi and Igoumenitsa . However, on the maiden voyage on July 21, it turned out that the Levant's unloading ramp is too high for the port facility of Igoumenitsa and that the descent is dangerously steep for the trucks, which is why regular operation of the connection was not started. The ship was therefore chartered from Balearia in September and is now in service from Barcelona to Menorca and Ibiza during the autumn and winter months .
