Libor Procházka (born April 25, 1974 in Vlašim , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player who was last under contract with HC Kladno in the Czech extra league . The greatest successes of his career include winning the gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics and the 1999 World Cup .

Career

Libor Procházka began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth of HC Kladno , for whose professional team he was first in the Czechoslovak first division from 1991 to 1997 and after the independence of the Czech Republic, from the 1993/94 season, in the Czech extra league. During this time he was selected in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft in the tenth round as the 245th player of the St. Louis Blues , for which he never played. In the 1997/98 season, the defender was under contract for the first time abroad when he played for AIK Solna in the Swedish Elitserien . After only a year, the right-handed shooter returned to his Czech homeland, where he played for HC Třinec for a season.

In the summer of 1998 Procházka was obliged by the Worcester IceCats from the American Hockey League , for which he scored eight scorer points, including two goals, in a total of 39 games. He then did not receive a new contract, so he returned to his homeland, where he was then on the ice for a year for HC Karlovy Vary and two years for his ex-club HC Třinec. With HC Sparta Prague , the 1998 Olympic champion was third in the national championship in the 2003/04 season. After one and a half seasons he left the capital to compete for their league rivals HC Plzeň . The Czech then spent the following two seasons at both HC Kladno, where he began his career, and the Swedish club Skellefteå AIK , for which he was active in the Elitserien and the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan . Procházka also began the 2007/08 season at HC Kladno, but ended it at the Swedish second division club Leksands IF . The defender has been under contract with his ex-club HC Sparta Prague since summer 2008, with whom he finished third in the Extraliga for the third time in his career in the 2008/09 season.

In January 2010 Procházka returned to his hometown club HC Kladno and ended his career after the 2013/14 season.
