Library of Congress Police

The Library of Congress Police (dt. Police Library of Congress ) was founded in 1950, US police authorities of the Federation, which for the safety of staff, visitors and the collection of the Library of Congress ( Engl. Library of Congress ) in Washington, DC was responsible . The LOC police carried out video surveillance, identity checks and, above all, patrols on the premises of the Library of Congress. Although it had more of the functions of a guard or security service , it was a complete police authority with all the associated rights.

Merged with the United States Capitol Police

In 2003 the US Congress decided to dissolve the Library of Congress Police and integrate it into the United States Capitol Police (USCP). All employees of the LOC policy were taken over by law from the USCP. The integration was officially completed on September 30, 2009.
