Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper of the Senate is the official name of the senior law enforcement officer responsible for conducting security enforcement and enforcing the United States Senate house rules and regulations within the Capitol.

The appointment of the Sergeants at Arms is made by simple majority vote of the Senate. The election of the official is incumbent on the majority party, but is usually elected unanimously.
tasks
One of the Sergeants at Arms responsibilities is to keep the session hammer used in the Senate . He can also request the presence of absent senators.
Together with the architect of the Capitol and the House Sergeant at Arms , he forms the Capitol Police Board , which is responsible for security around the buildings.
The Sergeant at Arms of the Senate, including the President of the United States , can arrest anyone who violates Senate rules or obstructs the work of Congress by ignoring a subpoena, for example .
The Sergeant at Arms is also responsible for escorting official Senate guests, organizing Senatorial funerals, planning the inauguration of the President, and organizing the induction of new Senators. He also escorts the senators when they move within their office.
In addition, providing the Senate with electronic equipment such as computers and telephones is the responsibility of the Sergeants at Arms office.
