Licínio Rangel

Licínio Rangel (born January 5, 1936 in Campos , Brazil , † December 16, 2002 in Rio de Janeiro ) was a Roman Catholic bishop .

Life

Rangel was ordained a priest on September 24, 1967 . By Bernard Tissier de Mallerais he was without papal mandate on 28 July 1991 in Rio de Janeiro Sao Fidelis bishop of the Fraternity of St. Pius X (SSPX) dedicated ; Alfonso de Galarreta and Richard Williamson were co- consecrators . He succeeded Antônio de Castro Mayer as chairman and superior of the priestly association of St. John Maria Vianney .

At the end of 2000 Licínio Rangel negotiated with the Holy See the modalities of a return of the “Association of St. Johannes Maria Vianney “(SSJV) and her 25 priests into the full communion of the Roman Catholic Church . This included that the association was established under canon law on January 18, 2002 as Apostolic Personnel Administration on the territory of the Diocese of Campos . At the end of 2001 Rangel's excommunication was lifted, he himself was appointed titular bishop of Zarna and appointed first apostolic administrator .

Because of serious illness, he received a bishop on 28 June 2002 coadjutor in the person of the titular bishop of Cedamusa appointed Fernando Areas Rifan . He was consecrated bishop on August 18, 2002 by Cardinal Castrillón Hoyos and Licínio Rangel according to the Roman Pontificale in its version used in 1962 and succeeded Rangel as Apostolic Administrator after his death.
