Liebesau - Die Andere Heimat is a ZDF television four-part series by Wolfgang Panzer from 2002 , which takes place in the fictional village of Liebesau between 1953 and 1989.

In 1953 Schorsch Schönstein returned to his farm in Liebesau, a fictional village near Halle an der Saale , and left it to the cooperative shortly after his return as a republic refugee . A lot has happened in the village, there have also been some changes and news for Schorsch within his family: his son Karli has become a socialist , his wife Gerlinde has distanced herself from him since his arrival.

Liebesau - The other home had production costs of 7.5 million euros or 5 million marks. The four-part series is based on Edgar Reitz ' Heimat - Eine deutsche Chronik . The Leipzig- born Peter Steinbach , who himself fled to the West in the mid- 1950s , where he was banned from working as a DKP member for seven years, wrote the script . The first broadcast took place from April 2, 2002 to April 8, 2002 on ZDF . The multi-part series was released on DVD on August 3, 2018.
