Linder racing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linder Rennsport is a former German racing team in automobile sport . The team was based in Füssen and Pfronten .

history

The team was founded in 1982 by Ludwig "Luggi" Linder . Linder converted BMW models into race-ready touring cars independently and without factory support . Just a year later, it was first used in smaller national series. From 1984 Linder got into the newly founded German Production Car Championship (later the German Touring Car Championship). Winfried Vogt finished fourth in the championship in a BMW 323i at the end of the season. The following year was less successful for Vogt and the team had to be content with tenth place. After the season, Linder initially withdrew from the DPM. In 1987 Linder competed in the European Touring Car Championship with Winfried Vogt, Altfrid Heger , Dieter Quester , Markus Oestreich and Franz Dufter and won the title with Vogt. In the 1987 World Touring Car Championship , too, the team competed with Winfried Vogt and Christian Danner in a number of races , but was not entitled to points. Linder only competed in the DTM again in 1988 , this time as a works team under the name BMW M Team Linder . The big leap forward, however, remained withheld. Two victories by Altfrid Heger in the airfield race in Mainz-Finthen were the best results after returning to the series. After BMW withdrew from the DTM at the factory , Linder built a touring car based on the BMW E36 , as in the early years , but without any notable success. At the end of 1994 , Linder finally left the DTM and in 1995 he entered the Super Touring Car Cup , this time with touring cars from the Honda Accord . At the end of 1997, Linder stopped racing.
