Linus Sandgren

Linus Sandgren (* 5. December 1972 in Stockholm as Nils Theo Linus Sandgren ) is a Swedish cameraman .

life and career

Linus Sandgren was born in Stockholm in December 1972 and attended Berghs School of Communication there . He began his career in advertising, including working as a cameraman for a variety of commercials and music videos . From the mid-1990s, he was involved in several Swedish films, first as second and later as first camera assistant . These include 1997 Selma and Johanna and 1999 Zero Tolerance - witnesses in fear . From 2000 he worked as the sole cameraman for short films and television .

His first feature film, Måns Mårlinds Fantasy - Thriller Storm , was released in 2005 and brought Sandgren 2007 the Swedish Film Award Guldbagge in the category Best Cinematography one. He also worked with Mårlind on his second feature film, the horror film Shelter (2010) with Julianne Moore in the lead role. In 2012, two films were released with the tragic comedy Good luck and take care and the film drama Promised Land in which Sandgren was involved as a cameraman.

His most recent works include David O. Russell's American Hustle (2013) and Lasse Hallström's Madame Mallory and the Scent of Curry (2014). In December 2015, the biopic Joy premiered with Jennifer Lawrence in the title role, on which Sandgren worked again with Russell. He received the Oscar in 2017 for his camera work on Damien Chazelle's multi-award-winning film musical La La Land .
