from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This list of members of the Carinthian state parliament (17th legislative period) lists all members of the Carinthian state parliament in the 17th legislative period. The legislative period lasted from the constituent session of the state parliament on November 7, 1949 to the inauguration of the subsequent state parliament on March 17, 1953.

After the state elections in 1949 , 15 of the 36 mandates went to the Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ), 12 to the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP), 8 to the Association of Independents (VdU) and 1 mandate to the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ). Due to the small number of mandates, however, the VO had no club status. Compared to the state elections in 1945 , the SPÖ had lost 3 mandates and the ÖVP and KPÖ each lost 2 mandates to the VdU, which was running for the first time. The Democratic Party of Austria no longer ran in 1949.

The state parliament elected the state government of Wedenig II on November 14, 1949 , and the MPs also elected Hans Herke (SPÖ), Hans Grossauer (ÖVP) and Anton Supersberg (VdU) as members of the Federal Council .
