This list of members of the Carinthian state parliament (21st legislative period) lists all members of the Carinthian state parliament in the 21st legislative period. The legislative period lasted from the constituent session of the Landtag on April 12, 1965 to the inauguration of the subsequent Landtag in the 22nd legislative period .
After the state elections in 1965 , 18 of the 36 seats were held by the Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ). The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) was also able to maintain its result of 1960 with twelve mandates. Likewise, the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) with 5 MPs and the Communists and Left Socialists (KLS) with one MP sent the same number of mandataries as in the previous period.
The state parliament elected the state government Sima I on April 12, 1965 and at this meeting also elected Helene Tschitschko (SPÖ), Michael Luptowits (SPÖ), Josef Salcher (ÖVP) and Leopold Goess (ÖVP) as members of the Federal Council .
Functions
Landtag President
The offices of the President of the Landtag and his two deputies were assigned according to the results of the Landtag election in the proportional system. As in the previous legislative period, Rudolf Tillian (SPÖ) took over the office of First President of the State Parliament . Second President was Wolfgang Mayrhofer (ÖVP), who, like the Third President Hans Pawlik (SPÖ), was new to the office of President of the State Parliament. The presidents of the state parliament were not determined by an election, but by the sufficiently signed election proposals of the state parliament clubs SPÖ and ÖVP.
Club chairmen
After the state elections, the members of the SPÖ formed the "Club of Socialist State Parliament Members of Carinthia" and elected Leo Lukas as club chairman and Wilhelm Sereinigg as his deputy. The members of the ÖVP joined together to form the “Landtag Club of Members of the Austrian People's Party” and appointed Karl Building Law as the club chairman and Stefan Sodat as the club chairman's deputy. Furthermore, the FPÖ MPs formed the “Landtag Club of the Freedom Party”. They elected Reinhold Huber as club chairman and Hans Rader as his deputy.
