Ensembles
Ensemble in the center of Remlingen
The ensemble encompasses the place roughly within its late medieval fortification line. - Grown from a Carolingian - Ottonian royal court on the important West-Ost-Strasse Frankfurt - Würzburg , the place was owned by the Counts of Wertheim during the Middle Ages ; since the late 16th and early 17th century it was divided between the Grafschaft Castell and the Hochstift Würzburg ; this division can still be seen today in the two manorial castles on the site. - The purely rural place is built on a hillside. The highest point is occupied by the former Castellsche Castle, built above a high retaining wall, in the valley by the brook there is the once regular four-wing complex of the former Würzburg official castle, which only has a fragmentary effect in today's building stock. The parish church with the surrounding churchyard forms its own, self-contained area, also situated high up on the slope. The town plan is irregular and is only carried at the edge by the long-distance paths that cross here: the West-Ost-Straße forms a bend around the former Würzburg official palace (Marktheidenfelderstraße and Würzburger Straße) at the valley crossing; the north-south street leads from the former upper gate along the retaining wall of the former Castell castle to the market square ; it then connects to Würzburger Strasse, from which it only separates outside of the village in the direction of Holzkirchen. So the place had three gates, none of which is any more. The main part of the village, turned away from the long-distance roads, develops along irregular streets to the east (Untere, Lange and Hintere Gasse); it finds its center in the small, steeply rising market square dominated by the baroque town hall building . The streets are all lined with farms, each of which faces the street with its residential building in the gable position. Today, mostly plastered half-timbered houses from the 18th century. The frequently occurring year 1710 suggests a reconstruction after a local fire. The place is characterized by the relatively high number of historic houses. Boundary: Path and road from the former Schäferstor along the town wall to the northeast to the former Upper Gate - Gottesackerweg to the southeast - Dorfgraben to the southwest - the property boundary in a straight line from Dorfgraben to the northwest to property no. 2. File number: E-6-79-177- 1.
Site fortification
A section of the late medieval town wall has been preserved on the north side between the parish garden and the former Castellschem Schloss (including). File number: D-6-79-177-1.

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The monument property - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the monument atlas or the entry in the Bavarian monument list. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
