List of architectural monuments in Rotthalmünster

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The monuments of the Lower Bavarian market Rotthalmünster are compiled on this page . This table is a partial list of the list of architectural monuments in Bavaria . The basis is the Bavarian Monument List , which was first drawn up on the basis of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act of October 1, 1973 and has since been managed by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation . The following information does not replace the legally binding information from the monument protection authority.

Rotthalmünster coat of arms

Ensembles

Ensemble of handicraft houses Am Goldberg

File number: E-2-75-143-1

On the Goldberg

The ensemble includes a tightly closed row of five small, picturesque craftsman's houses at the southern end of the market. These are log buildings with flat gable roofs from the 18th century, with a Biedermeier plastered building in between with a half-hipped roof. These buildings are the last to remind of the development that was originally predominant in Rotthalmünster and that was lost in the numerous market fires of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Ensemble market place

File number: E-2-75-143-2

Ensemble market place

The ensemble includes the elongated, slightly rising rectangular square and the area around the parish church in the northeast of the square. The oldest settlement core of the place is likely to be near the church, its center is said to have been an early medieval nunnery. To the south of this core, at right angles to the old through road Passau-Griesbach, which touches its south side, the market settlement was built in the high Middle Ages, the market square of which was regularly expanded in two stages. The place was initially owned by various Lower Bavarian count houses, which may have promoted the development of the market, came to the Wittelsbach family in 1259 and received market rights through these dukes in 1349. The late Gothic market church was built around 1452, the successor to the early medieval monastery church; The client was the owner of the patronage, the Aldersbach Abbey. The church fortifications, parts of which have been preserved on the south side, especially the gatehouse, were built around the same time. In the otherwise unfortified market, it offered traders and craftsmen protection in the event of war.

The market square, which rises slightly towards the south, is enclosed with two and three-story plastered residential and commercial buildings. Most of them are gabled houses, some with tail gable houses, many of which are wide and provided with walls. Most of them date from the 18th and 19th centuries, most of them from the time of the reconstruction after the fire in 1858. At the south end, the simple town hall protruding from the building line delimits the square, at the northeast end, where the old thoroughfare crosses the square in broken lines , the stately, externally baroque hipped roof corner building of the Herndlbräu forms an impressive end to the space, in whose image the baroque church tower and the Portalstöckl, the gatehouse of the churchyard fortifications, also have a say.

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
