List of European football coaches

The list of European football championship coaches lists all football coaches who have led their team to win the men's or women 's European football championship .

The men's European football championship has been held since 1960. Since then, 15 different coaches have won a European title. The first European champion coach was the Russian Gavriil Katschalin . So far, no coach has managed to win the title twice.

Berti Vogts is the only one to date who has become the European men's soccer champion both as a player ( 1972 ) and as a coach ( 1996 ). However, he was not used at the EC 1972 due to injury. The current European championship coach is Fernando Santos from Portugal.

The German Otto Rehhagel is the only European coach who did not look after the national team of his home country when the Greeks won the 2004 title .

The European Women's Football Championship was first played in 1984. A total of seven coaches, including three women, have so far won at least one European championship title. The first European champion coach was Ulf Lyfors . The German Gero Bisanz and the also German Tina Theune were the only ones who managed to become European championship coach in women's football three times: Bisanz in 1989, 1991 and 1995; Theune-Meyer 1997, 2001 and 2005. Theune-Meyer was the first ever European football coach. She already worked as an assistant in the three title wins under Gero Bisanz. The current European champion coach is Sarina Wiegman from the Netherlands .

Silvia Neid was the only one so far to become European champion in women's football both as a player ( 1989 ) and as a coach ( 2009 and 2013 ).
