List of troop units of the army reconnaissance force of the Bundeswehr

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of units of the Army Reconnaissance Force of the Army of the German Armed Forces contains all independent units and formations of the Army Reconnaissance Force of the German Armed Forces as well as a brief overview of their time of deployment, stationing locations, subordination and their dissolution or renaming. The youngest branch of the army was temporarily completed in 2008. For this purpose, forces of the tank reconnaissance troops , the long-distance reconnaissance troops and field intelligence forces as well as the airborne reconnaissance forces and parts of the artillery reconnaissance forces (primarily drone reconnaissance forces ) were used. First and foremost, the tank reconnaissance battalions were reclassified and fundamentally reorganized with the help of additional forces. All predecessor associations are shown in the list of tank reconnaissance associations of the Bundeswehr and the list of tele-spying units of the Bundeswehr .

Battalions

The new army reconnaissance force set up several reconnaissance battalions until 2008. The stringent numbering based on the subordination of the units was given up in the army around the mid-1990s. Since then, the number of the association is no longer a clear indication of the subordination, but is retained in the event of a change of subordination. The reconnaissance battalions, which were mostly formed from tank reconnaissance battalions, therefore kept their numbers, only the name was changed. In the case of individual associations, however, you can still read the former subordination, in rare cases also the current one, from the number. Regarding the general numbering conventions of the predecessor associations, reference is made to the list of armored reconnaissance associations of the Bundeswehr etc. If possible, the list briefly describes the origin of the number. In general, in tank reconnaissance battalions, battalion numbers 1 to 14 mostly corresponded to the originally higher division; In the case of the tank reconnaissance battalion, the company number usually corresponded to the number of the higher-level brigade plus a final digit "0". Several inactive formations were newly set up, which are based on a unit without large equipment of their own and are training associations for reservists. Their 900 numbers follow the most recent numbering conventions for non-active units in the army (see list of armored infantry units of the German Armed Forces ) without implying any particular subordination.

The following associations were set up:

Independent companies

The independent reconnaissance companies of the army reconnaissance troops were formed in 2008 from the former tank reconnaissance companies. The telephoto watch company and the airborne reconnaissance companies already existed before the reconnaissance forces were combined in the army and changed to the new type of service under the same name. With the exception of a newly established inactive battalion, which follows the numbering of the inactive reconnaissance battalions (see above), the company number of the companies shows their current and original subordination to one of the brigades of the army or, in the case of the telephonist company, to the original corps. The Fernspählehrkompanie 200 was formerly part of the II Corps . The number was retained even after the corps was disbanded and several changes of subordination. The numbers of the other active companies begin with the number of their superior brigade and end with a "0".
