List of units of the topography troops of the Army of the Bundeswehr
The list of troop units of the topography troops of the Army of the Bundeswehr contains all dissolved, active and inactive (equipment units, cadreed battalions) units of the topography troops of the Army of the Bundeswehr as well as a brief overview of their time of deployment, stationing locations, subordination and their dissolution or renaming. The topography troops were a small group of troops that initially belonged to the artillery troops until 1973 , cf. hence the list of units of the artillery troops of the army of the Bundeswehr . Regardless of this, units that are obviously active in the field of topography are also listed, even if they were not part of the independent topography force during the entire period of their existence. The topography troop was disbanded by 2004 and parts of the tasks, orders, personnel and military material were transferred to the geographic information service of the Bundeswehr .
Introduction to the numbering conventions
From Army Structure II to around 1990, the topography troop units were numbered using a stringent numbering convention. During this time one could usually read directly from the name that the unit was assigned. In the event of a change of subordination, reclassification, etc., the number has usually been consistently adapted, apart from exceptional cases. Conversely, during this period, associations with the same number cannot always be seen in the same line of tradition. After 1990 and the incorporation of parts of the disbanded National People's Army and the considerable reclassifications in the years after the end of the Cold War , this adjustment was often no longer made; the associations often kept their name by tradition. Your assumption can usually no longer be derived from your number. However, certain conclusions can be drawn about their origin and tradition. In the following, the system is presented according to the size of the associations. However, the following considerations on the system of the designation remain to be understood only as a basic concept, even for the period before 1990. In the case of troop attempts, in the formation and disbandment phase, etc., deviations from the rule are repeatedly encountered.

Topography trains
Due to the small size of the troop type, the largest units of the topography troops in the field army were for a long time independent platoons that were planned as part of the corps troops .
