List of units of the NBC defense force of the Army of the Bundeswehr
The list of units of the NBC defense force of the Army of the Bundeswehr contains all disbanded battalions , associations and large formations of the NBC defense force of the Army of the Bundeswehr as well as a brief overview of their deployment time, stationing locations, subordination and their dissolution or renaming.
This therefore only includes the units of the NBC defense force before 2013, when the troops switched from the army to the armed forces base .
Introduction to the numbering conventions
From Army Structure II to Army Structure IV (around 1990), the numbering of the Army NBC defense units was based on a stringent numbering convention. During this time, the name could usually be taken directly from the subordination of the battalion or regiment. In the event of a change of subordination, reclassification, etc., the number has usually been consistently adapted, apart from exceptional cases. Conversely, during this period, associations with the same number cannot always be seen in the same line of tradition. After 1990 and the incorporation of parts of the disbanded National People's Army and the considerable reclassifications in the years after the end of the Cold War , this adjustment was often no longer made; the associations often kept their name by tradition. Your assumption can usually no longer be derived from your number. However, certain conclusions can be drawn about their origin and tradition. In the following, the system is presented according to the size of the associations. The following considerations on the system of the designation are to be understood only as a principle concept, even for the period before 1990. In the case of troop attempts, in the formation and disbandment phase, etc., deviations from the rule are repeatedly encountered.
Brigades
The NBC Defense Brigade 100 was one of six combat support and logistics brigades of the Army Command in the Army of the Future (2002–2007) and led all of the army's anti-aircraft forces. This brigade was the only brigade of the NBC defense force in the history of the Army. Like all brigades of the army troop command, the association had the number 100.
