The Panzergrenadierbrigade 41 "Vorpommern" ( PzGrenBrig 41 ) with headquarters in Neubrandenburg is a brigade of the German army . It is subordinate to the 1st Panzer Division . The association also describes itself as the "Army in the Northeast", because its troops are in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , northern Saxony-Anhalt and eastern Schleswig-Holstein .
assignment
The brigade primarily provides troops for operations in national and multinational units with the aim of conflict prevention and crisis management within the framework of NATO or the European Union . In the event of an attack, the brigade also fulfills national defense and defense tasks for allied NATO countries.
Association badge and motto
The association badge indicates the stationing in the Western Pomerania region . The blue and white split coat of arms shows a red griffin with a gold-colored beak and claws. The colors symbolizing loyalty and constancy (blue) as well as cleanliness and wisdom (white or silver) are the Pomeranian national colors . The griffin is the symbol of the Pomeranian princely house and has been shown in the shield of the Slavic princes since 1212. Heraldically, this mythical animal means a mixture of lion and eagle, strength, pride and justice. Although the Duchy of Pomerania had to accept multiple divisions, the griffin was always shown in the coat of arms in all parts of the country. The silver cord with black thread intertwined is unusual for most brigades. In the “old” Federal Republic of Germany, this form of border was only typical for divisions. The brigade's motto is "Ready to Help - Able to Fight - We in the Northeast"

In 1994 the last NVA device was handed over and the brigade was renamed Panzergrenadierbrigade 41 in 1995 and officially incorporated into NATO. In 1997 the brigade helped with the Oder floods . In 2002 the staff moved to Torgelow and was also deployed in disaster control during the Elbe floods in 2002 .
In 2007 the subordination of the brigade changed from the 14th Panzer Grenadier Division to the 13th Panzer Grenadier Division . In 2007, the subordination of Panzer Pioneer Battalion 803 (Havelberg) changed from the disbanded Panzer Grenadier Brigade 1 to Panzer Grenadier Brigade 41.
With the dissolution of the 13th Panzer Grenadier Division in mid-2013, Panzergrenadier Brigade 41 was subordinated to the 1st Panzer Division .
