Andreas Marlow

Andreas Marlow (born May 29, 1963 in Eutin ) is a lieutenant general of the Army of the Bundeswehr and commanding general of the 1st German-Dutch Corps in Münster .

Military background

Training and first uses

Marlow joined the Bundeswehr in 1982 with tank battalion 183 in Boostedt and completed his training as an officer in the tank force . From 1983 to 1986 he completed a degree in education at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg . After completing his studies, Marlow was employed as a platoon leader from 1986 to 1989, and as a communications officer in tank battalion 183 from 1989 to 1990. From 1990 to 1992 he was employed as a company commander in the 3./Panzerbataillon 513 in Flensburg . From 1992 to 1994 Marlow was again employed with Panzer Battalion 183, this time as a company commander in the 6th Company. From 1994 to 1995 he was staff officer S3 planning / training in the staff of Panzerbrigade 18 in Boostedt. From 1995 to 1997 Marlow completed the 38th general staff course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg.

Service as a staff officer

His first assignment as a staff officer led him from 1997 to 1999 as staff officer G4 to Panzerbrigade 14 in Neustadt . Then Marlow took part in the Canadian General Staff Training at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto . From 2000 to 2001 he worked as a staff officer for G3 planning / training in the army leadership department at the Bundeswehr leadership academy. From 2001 to 2004 he was employed as a ministerial officer for Fü H III 1 Multinational Cooperation of the Army in the command staff of the Army in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn . As a lieutenant colonel , Marlow was then commander of the 403 tank battalion in Schwerin from 2004 to 2006 . From 2007 to 2009 he was then Head of Department I 2 Personnel Management of the Army General Staff, Telecommunications and Field Police officers in the Personnel Office of the Bundeswehr in Cologne . Service as a general

In July 2011 Marlow took over command of the Panzer Grenadier Brigade 41 "Vorpommern" in Torgelow from Brigadier General Benedikt Zimmer . He handed this over to Jürgen-Joachim von Sandrart in August 2013 . Marlow then became the commander of the Munster training center . After nine months, he handed over command to Brigadier General Norbert Wagner in May 2014 . From 2014 to 2015 he was head of the office of the inspector general of the Bundeswehr in Berlin . In October 2015 he took over from Major General Eberhard Zorn as commander of the Rapid Forces division . In this post he was also promoted to major general. On March 14, 2019, he handed over this post to Brigadier General Andreas Hannemann in order to take over the post as Chief of Staff of the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan from Lieutenant General Alfons Mais at the beginning of April 2019 . Associated with this was the appointment as lieutenant general. On February 6, 2020, Marlow again took over from Lieutenant General Alfons Mais as commanding general of the 1st German-Dutch Corps in Münster . On April 9, 2020, he handed over the post in Kabul to Lieutenant General Thorsten Poschwatta and returned from his foreign assignment.
