Former Road bridge in steel rivet construction with the associated railings on the two bridge approaches, today a pedestrian bridge (Paradiesbrücke) Outer Dresdner Strasse
(map)
1899-1901 striking iron bridge, the only surviving bridge of this type in Zwickau with a sophisticated design, of technical and architectural significance.

At the end of the 19th century, the old wooden Paradise Bridge was no longer able to cope with the increased demands on traffic routes resulting from industrialization. In order to improve the traffic connection of the city, a new steel bridge was built in 1900 based on the cantilever-girder principle with a usable width of 12 meters for traffic and pedestrians. The construction of the structure from the old wooden bridge approx. 22 meters downstream had to withstand the subsidence caused by the mining. The factory for bridge building and iron construction Beuchelt & Co from Grünberg in Silesia was awarded the contract for the steel construction . The granite pillar construction was built by the well-known Zwickau master builder Hugo Frey with rubble stone from Wolfersgrün, Oberplanitz and Saupersdorf. The ironwork for the candelabra and the decoration of the main girders of the bridge was carried out by the Berlin company Ferd. Paul Krüger out. Master locksmith Emil Schumann from Zwickau made the connecting railings on the driveways to the bridge, the associated granite fields from Lusatian granite were made by Zwickau master stonemason B. Mehlhorn. After the new construction had passed its stress test with horse-drawn carts, steam rollers, horse rollers and other harnesses (75.35 tons in total), it was opened to traffic on October 28, 1900. From June 15 to July 1, 1945, the Paradiesbrücke served as a kind of border crossing. The hollow formed the demarcation line between Soviet and American-occupied territory in Zwickau. The Paradiesbrücke has been closed to traffic since 1979. In 2002 the Paradiesbrücke was extensively renovated.
