Description of the building: Broad plastered building over two floors on a rectangular floor plan, central projection, 3 × 8 axes (central projection three axes), base brick masonry in a cross connection, pilaster strips at the corners also in brick shell, brick trim, various friezes on the cornice, regularly arranged arched windows on the ground floor Brick arch roofing and grooved skylights, on the upper floor simplified rectangular windows on the street side, front gable with three windows, crooked hip roof, plastered stucco medallion marked 1908 on the southwest gable side, wreath of ears with mallets and iron , house entrance on the rear eaves side and there in the stairwell made of leaded glass Ornamental glass depicting mining facilities.

In 1900 the Morgenstern shaft III was sunk. By 1907, various buildings were built for the mining of hard coal. In 1910 the extraction of hard coal began. After 1945 the Morgenstern union was nationalized and renamed the Martin-Hoop-Werk. Due to the steady increase in funding, an extension, the so-called Steigerbad (number 2b), became necessary in 1952. In 1965, the last hunt was mined in the shaft. In 1970 the shaft was sealed with a concrete seal. The Thurm electric motor works were subsequent users of the building. They carried out extensive modifications to adapt to the production requirements. In 1992 the buildings were pulled empty. Demolition of buildings number 2a, b and c approved 12/96, completed in 1997.

The Martin-Hoop-Schacht IV is the largest and longest in operation in Zwickau and therefore of extraordinary importance in terms of town history, the only completely preserved mining facility in the Zwickau district. The former Morgensternschacht IV initially only served as a weather shaft (1920-1925) and had a depth of 955 m. It was about 100 m south of the old Vettermannstrasse and in 1945 only had daytime facilities. Due to the relocation of coal mining to the east in the direction of Morgensternschacht IV and the expectations of the Mülsenfeld exploration begun in 1947, the central administration of the fuel industry decided on December 12, 1946 to expand Morgensternschacht IV into a production shaft in implementation of order 81 of SMAD. For this purpose, up to the start of operations on July 1, 1948 (first conveyance via the old bobbin system) or on February 1, 1949, the following were erected: - the winding tower in its current form, - the eastern winding machine building with steam-operated Koep conveyor system, - the dry separation - the siding - Company buildings and washrooms - workshops.

The deposit expansion discovered by the Mülsenfeld exploration made it possible to expand the Martin Hoop Shaft IV (renamed in 1949) into a central shaft system. The share of the hard coal works Martin Hoop in the Saxon hard coal production rose 1949-65 from 15% to 35% with approx. 6000 employees.
