Stable house of a former three-sided courtyard Inner Zwickauer Strasse 62
(map)
1739 Dendro Largely original, very old half-timbered building of architectural and social historical importance.

Monument foundation for the residential stable house Innere Zwickauer Straße 62 in Zwickau.

The monument value of the farmhouse was recognized in the course of the comprehensive new monument registration in Saxony, which has been carried out since 1991. This building has been listed in the list of monuments of the Free State of Saxony since 1992. The legal basis is the Saxon Monument Protection Act (SächsDSchG) of March 3, 1993 (SächsGVBl. 14/1993 p. 229), legally adjusted as of August 1, 2008.

The monument value of the above-mentioned farmhouse results primarily from its architectural, socio-historical and urban development and urban development significance.

1. MONUMENT ABILITY

· Urban significance

The house with a half-timbered upper storey on the massive ground floor stands raised on a wall, facing towards the gable above Innere Zwickauer Straße. The view of the half-timbered gable with K-struts in the upper storey framework and parallel struts in the roof triangle is currently not very effective due to tree vegetation, but without this it would actually work far into the urban space and thus acquire an extraordinary urban significance. The half-timbered view is one of the few remaining evidence of this building culture in the urban area of Zwickau. The distinctive half-timbered gable with K-struts gives this part of Planitz an unmistakable appearance, an aspect that essentially determines the high urban value of the cultural monument.

· Significance in terms of urban development history

In the course of industrialization in the 19th century, the village of Planitz, located southwest of the old town of Zwickau, developed into an urban settlement characterized by apartment buildings and factories. More and more of the original farms and cottages had to give way to urban development. In 1924, according to the process, the former village of Planitz was granted city rights. the incorporation to Zwickau took place in 1944. The residential stable house Innere Zwickauer Straße 62 is one of the few still largely original farmhouses in Planitz and thus becomes a testimony to this development process. This gives rise to its significance in terms of urban development history.

· Significance in building history

Furthermore, the structure is of particular importance in terms of architectural history as a testimony to the half-timbered construction in the 18th century in Planitz and in the Zwickau area. It is evidently one of the last evidence of half-timbered construction in today's Zwickau district from the time before 1800. Of the 88 farmhouses in the city of Zwickau recognized as cultural monuments, six farmhouses date from the 17th century and six farmhouses from the 18th century. In Planitz there are only three historic farmhouses from the 18th century, two of which are buildings from the first half of the 18th century. This makes the mentioned farmhouse the second oldest farmhouse in Planitz and one of the oldest farmhouses in Zwickau.

The building has the construction features characteristic of the time it was built. It is a story building with preserved half-timbering on the upper floor. The framework of the facing gable was provided with K-struts, on both sides of the center post of the facing gable there are K-struts, so that there is an outdated strut figure known as man . A similar decorative framework is to be assumed under the slate of the facing eaves side. This type of decorative framework has only been in use in the Zwickau area for about 40 years and is therefore relatively rare. The roof of the house was designed as a collar beam roof with a central longitudinal bond, the transom of which is supported by tension bolts and hanging struts between the rafters. The formation of the facing eaves with profiled wood and post is characteristic of the construction time, which could be determined by a dendrochronological examination. Dendrochronologically, the construction timber (fir) dates from three samples as the youngest felling year to 1739, so the house was built in 1740 at the earliest.

The massive undercutting of the building on the ground floor (replacement of the half-timbered structure on the ground floor with masonry) and the massive west gable are evidence of the stricter fire insurance and building regulations that have been issued since the late 18th century. The change to solid construction took place gradually. Initially, wood-saving measures and the Saxon village fire regulations were decisive for this process. Increasingly, this change to solid construction was accelerated by provisions of fire insurance. But the urban architecture also provided inspiration for imitation. At the same time, bricks were presumably cheaper to procure than wood, which sometimes required longer transport routes. City maps of Zwickau from the 19th century show countless brick factories in the area around the old city of Zwickau. The house is therefore also a vivid example of this process of change.

· Significance in social history

Since the spatial structures have remained almost unchanged, the living and working methods in rural areas can be easily understood using this example. Thus the building also has a socio-historical significance.

2. MONUMENT WORTHY

The building also meets the criteria for monument status. This is to be understood as a public interest in the preservation of an object in addition to being a listed building. According to the general opinion, this constituent feature of the concept of monument presupposes that the monument quality of a thing and the necessity of its preservation in the consciousness of the population or at least a broad (...?)

Individual monuments as a whole Schlossberg Planitz: Two stone pillars with sandstone vases (at the park entrance) and a tea house in the castle park Schlossplatz
(map)
1789 (tea house) Striking building that characterizes the castle park and is of local historical, architectural and architectural significance (see also totality - Obj. 09231685, Schloßplatz 1, 1a, 4, 5).

History of the castle park: around 1870 according to plans and under the guidance of CEA Petzold, the garden director at the time and finisher of the important landscape park in Muskau / Neisse, started by Prince Pückler in 1815, the park was built, the client was Isolde von Arnim, the park was expanded by about twice the Petzold designed the previous area (palace garden) to the east with special reference to the existing park buildings - the tea house and the nursery building, which was probably built as the Belvedere in 1789 by the von Arnim family in what was then the pleasure garden, including the already existing chestnut avenue between the palace and Park gate and tea house, the reference architecture of the park.

The monument preservation objective for the palace park consists in the care, preservation and gradual restoration of the landscape garden as a total work of art in the sense of its artistic structure at the end of the 19th century with the woody stock, largely preserved in its basic structure, including the chestnut avenue and its gardening equipment as well as the reference to the park its surroundings.

Tea house (in the castle park): The tea house built as a Belvedere by Hans Christoph von Arnim on the occasion of the 100-year-old family estate of the Arnims in the former pleasure garden, including the already existing chestnut avenue between the castle / park gate and tea house, became the reference architecture of the park. The two-storey, pavilion-like tea house on an octagonal floor plan is a unique example of the Rococo in Zwickau in a simplified form of the chinoiserie. The last renovation in line with listed buildings took place in 1935.

Solid construction presumably quarry stone, plastered, base natural stone, the upper floor walkway resting on polygonal pillars, probably concrete, the arches above the pillars made of Rabitz construction (plaster wall with wire mesh insert) made from the renovation phase around 1930, the upper floor and the walkway are accessed through a Two-winged spiral staircase, pagoda-style tea house with a pyramid helmet and a central polygonal roof turret, also crowned by a pyramid helmet with a ball and a weather vane.

1585-1588 The ensemble is significant in terms of local history and architecture (see also the entirety of the objects - Obj. 09231685, Schloßplatz 1, 1a, 4, 5).

High above the city, on the Schlossberg in Zwickau / Planitz, three-aisled pillar basilica with a cross-shaped floor plan with a 60 meter high west tower and flanking stair towers. The walls of the neo-Gothic church were made of brickwork and faced with sandstone blocks. The five-bay nave with ribbed vaults is the same width as the choir, which ends in a polygonal manner. The building, which was designed by the Zwickau-born architect and master builder Gotthilf Ludwig Möckel (1838–1915), who achieved national importance as the master builder of numerous primarily neo-Gothic churches in Germany, impresses above all with its conscientious development of all structural members that become one join harmonious unity.

As an early example of neo-Gothic church building in Saxony and as the first church building by the important German master builder and architect Gotthilf Ludwig Möckel, the Lukaskirche is of national architectural significance. The rich furnishings typical of the time make this lavishly designed neo-Gothic basilica a total work of art of national standing. Due to the dominant location, the church building also becomes the landmark of the city of Zwickau.

Unused since 1968 and left to decay, since 1991/92 security work has contributed to the preservation and gradual restoration of this unique example of neo-Gothic church building in Saxony, which, however, has not yet been completed. So the emergency security of the tower is still pending, which is an integral part of the overall structure and an important landmark of the city of Zwickau.

Neo-Gothic pillar basilica of national architectural and artistic importance as an early work by the German architect and master builder Gotthilf Ludwig Möckel and as an exemplary example of neo-Gothic church construction in Saxony and Germany. Due to the sophisticated architectural design and the rich furnishings typical of the time, the building is also gaining supraregional architectural significance. (LfD / 2008).

On September 28, 1519 the foundation stone was laid for the St. Niklas Chapel next to the castle - after its demolition, the castle church was built in 1585-88 under the then castle lord Joachim von Beust (consecrated on October 16, 1588): the former patronage gallery to the right of the altar ( originally terminated with the sandstone parapet) had a direct connection to the castle and was reserved for the castle lords, from 1689 the von Arnims ruled the castle and had the castle church renewed in 1719. The church tower, destroyed by Swedish horsemen in 1640, was rebuilt in 1653. Particularly noteworthy is the epitaph altar by Samuel Lorentz, the baptismal font and the pulpit, as well as the field ceiling with Old and New Testament depictions from 1589. Two valuable wrought iron gates, 1945–1946 sobering but conservative renewal by the Methodist Church. Regrettable loss of the old organ work (baroque prospectus). Since 1968 church of the Lukaskirch parish again, since 1981 continuous maintenance and restoration measures, especially in the interior. In the old castle cemetery there are marble graves of Isolde, Alexander and Heinrich von Arnim. Unfortunately the bronze letters have been stolen.

Arnim'scher Friedhof: with edging, the surrounding material part, number of graves eight tombs, seven of them lying stones (hereditary burials) and an upright cross, roughly hewn natural stone with a wreath of flowers.
