Individual monument of the aggregate church and cemetery Cainsdorf: Church with furnishings, war memorial for those killed in the Franco-German War and mortuary (see also aggregate document - Obj. 09231811, same address) | Kirchstrasse (map) |
1867-1869 | Monuments of architectural or historical importance.
Church: The cultural monument is the Protestant parish church located above the Mulde valley on the so-called "Cainsdorfer Nase", with some remarkable furnishings. The neo-Gothic hall church was designed in 1867 by the Dresden architect Julius Northoff and built in the years 1867–1869. The masonry work was carried out by the master mason of the Marienhütte, Mr. Steinmann. The foundation stone was laid on April 27, 1868 and it was consecrated on November 1, 1869. The church is one of the first church shell buildings in Saxony. The squat brick building with the invigorating yellow bands is characterized by the stepped glazed gables and in particular the dominating west tower with the pointed spire crowned by a button and cross. On the north and south side of the choir there are additions for the sacristy and the patronage box of Isolde v. Arnim. The interior room effect corresponds to the exterior appearance, which was simple and modern for the construction period. The roof structure over the ship is open and covered with lavishly decorated plank beams. The galleries on three sides are clamped between the post construction of the roof structure. The choir is vaulted with ribs. At the time of construction, the church had a colorful painting, carried out by the painter Rauchfuß from Zwickau. The existing glass windows only partly date from the time it was built and thus testify to different tastes of the time. Mortuary: The mortuary is a brick shell with pointed arched windows and a slate-covered gable roof. It is located on the long eastern side of the cemetery. Originally the gravedigger's apartment, connected to a mortuary, was housed here. |

Cemetery design: terraced cemetery with almost all-round preserved hawthorn hedge, this combined with sycamore maple in the north, large weeping beech in front of the choir, presumably from the time of construction, grave fields bordered by rows of linden trees, presumably partly natural stone walls on the grave field terraces. |

Former canoe slalom course | Wehrweg (map) |
between 1968 and 1972 | For the preparation of the 1972 Olympic Games, a compressed image of the Augsburg ice canal with key points, a unique example of German-German sports history.
Canoe slalom course built in preparation for the Olympic Games before 1972, which was modeled on the Augsburg Ice Canal (the first whitewater stadium in the former FRG). The 660 m long original was shortened to 450 m, but contained the tactically most important parts of the Augsburg model, so that optimal preparation of the GDR slalom canoeists for the 1972 Olympic Games was made possible. The water for the whitewater route was derived from the Zwickauer Mulde from an existing weir that was part of a mining facility. At the same place there was originally a mill ditch, which also belonged to a mining facility. The sewer consists largely of precast concrete parts with the corresponding fixtures also made of concrete. The site of the incident is partially buried today, as are some short sections. Even if the canal can no longer be used today, large parts have remained unchanged. They are reminiscent of a special situation in German-German sports history and thus acquire historical significance. The system is unique for the area of the former GDR. LfD / 2011. |
