List of World Hockey Association coaches

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of coach of the World Hockey Association lists all the chief coach of the World Hockey Association , led by at least one WHA game during the existence of the League from 1972 to 1979 a team.

The World Hockey Association started in the 1972/73 season with twelve teams and the coaches Jack Kelley , Bobby Hull , Bill Needham , Bill Dineen , Terry Slater , Ray Kinasewich , Glen Sonmor , John McKenzie , Billy Harris , Maurice Richard , Camille Henry and Marcel Pronovost . The most successful and at the same time longest active coach was Bill Dineen, who was in use in all seven seasons of the league and won the Avco World Trophy twice with the Houston Eros . He also holds the records for most games (545), wins (318), losses (199), draws (28) and points (664). Larry Hillman , Tom McVie , Marc Boileau , Jack Kelley and Bobby Kromm , who each won the Avco World Trophy once, were also successful .

With Ian Wilkie , a coach was only an interim coach in one WHA game. Wilkie, then as a temporary solution for the New York Raiders , won his only game.
