Johann Rudolf Stettler, last Deutschseckelmeister in the city and republic of Bern (1789)
The first well-known Bernese Seckelmeister was Konrad vom Holz. From 1536 a distinction was made between the Deutschseckelmeister and the Welschseckelmeister. The Welschseckelmeister was responsible for the financial management of Vaud, which was conquered in 1536 . Both Seckel masters together with the four Venners formed the powerful Venner Chamber .
