Völkerschlachtdenkmal is the name given to monuments that commemorate the victory of Prussia , Russia and their allies against France in the Battle of Leipzig in 1813. Most of them were created in 1913 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary. By far the best known and largest monument is in Leipzig itself.

Demarcation

Structures such as the Russian Memorial Church in Leipzig-Thonberg, the Liberation Hall near Kelheim or the Biehla water tower belong in the border area . The National Monument for the Wars of Liberation in Berlin-Kreuzberg is also a general reminder of the Wars of Liberation. There are also memorials for events leading up to and after the Battle of Nations, for example with reference to the retreating French: the cannon and the Bodelschwingh monument in Zscheiplitz or the memorial plaques in Weißenfels .
