Lizanne Bussières

Lizanne Bussières (born August 20, 1961 in Frelighsburg , Québec ) is a former Canadian long-distance runner who specialized in the marathon .

In 1983 she came in 45th place at the World Cross Country Championships in Gateshead and won the Montreal Marathon. The following year she was third in the Ottawa Marathon and fourth in the New York City Marathon .

In 1986 she finished third in the Boston Marathon and fourth in the Commonwealth Games Marathon in Edinburgh .

In 1988 she finished 26th at the Cross Country World Championships in Auckland , was fifth in Boston and came 26th in the marathon of the Olympic Games in Seoul . At the Universiade 1989 in Duisburg she won bronze over 10,000 m . In 1990 she was at the Commonwealth Games in Auckland ninth over 3000 m and 10,000 m and second in the Los Angeles Marathon .

In 1992 she qualified with a fifth place in Los Angeles for the marathon of the Olympic Games in Barcelona , in which she did not reach the goal. In 1993 she won the Around the Bay Road Race and the Pittsburgh Marathon , in 1994 she won silver at the La Francophonie Games and the Commonwealth Games marathon in Victoria and was eleventh at the Tokyo International Women's Marathon .

In 1986 she graduated from McGill University with a degree in medicine .
