Lloyd Ulyate

Lloyd Ulyate (* 1927 ; † 2004 ) was an American jazz and studio musician ( trombone , bass trombone ).

Live and act

Ulyate was involved in the Hollywood studio scene from the 1940s onwards, including the orchestras of David Rose , Nelson Riddle , Billy May , Henry Mancini , Percy Faith , Jerry Fielding , Max Steiner , Alfred Newman , John Williams , Victor Young , Jerry Goldsmith , Bernhard Hermann , Elmer Bernstein , Franz Waxman and Igor Stravinsky . From the mid-1950s to the early 1990s, he was also involved in numerous film soundtracks, such as the music for Around the World In 80 Days , Rio Bravo , Busted Chains , Jaws , Escape from Alcatraz and Back to the present - Star Trek IV .

Ulyate played u. a. in studio bands and orchestras as accompanist a. a. by Ike Carpenter , Kay Starr , Sammy Davis Jr. / Dave Cavanaugh , Mel Tormé , Dean Martin , Anita O'Day / Buddy Bregman , Toni Harper , Jack Teagarden , Ella Fitzgerald ( ... Sings the Cole Porter Song Book ), Nellie Lutcher , Bing Crosby , Frances Faye , Louis Armstrong / Russell Garcia and Mitzi Gaynor . Ulytae also took part in recordings by Red Nichols , Russ Garcia ( The Complete Porgy and Bess , 1956), Jack Costanzo , Dick Cathcart , Gus Bivona , Earl Bostic and by George Roberts / Frank DeVol . In the 1960s and 1970s he worked in studio productions, a. a. with Billy Eckstine , Sarah Vaughan , Nat King Cole / George Shearing , Chuck Slagle , Earl Hines , Dizzy Gillespie , Lawrence Welk & Johnny Hodges , Tutti Camarata , Sergio Mendes , Michael Franks , Michel Legrand , Bob Thiele and Gabe Baltazar with. In the 1990s he played in the studio orchestras of Ray Anthony and Ralph Carmichael . In the field of jazz he was involved in 153 recording sessions between 1947 and 2000.
