The Lohbach runs in its entirety in the northern Hessian Habichtswald Nature Park . It rises at the eastern foot of the Isthaberg about 1.5 km north of Istha , a southeastern district of Wolfhagen . Its source is located in a meadow and arable area around 120 m west of the state road L 3312, which leads from Istha in the south to Altenhasungen (also a district of Wolfhagen) in the north, at around 334 m above sea level. NHN . After 120 m the stream crosses under the L 3312 to the east, then bends in a long arc to the north and then to the northwest around the Goldhügel ( 321.3 m ), a northeastern branch of the Isthaberg, again crosses under the L 3312, this time to the west, and takes about 450 meters north-west - after a total of approximately 1300 m flow path - a second, about 1000 m long and coming from the left (west) source stream on which at 51 ° 19 '2 " N , 9 ° 13' 41" O also rises at the eastern foot of the Isthaberg.
Now the Lohbach continues to the northwest, first after crossing under the county road K 102 about 850 m west along the edge of the forest of the so-called "Luh" and then reaches the southeast end of the Festberg and the nature reserve Festberg , where it comes to a small part of the Wolfhagen district of Philippinenburg in the southwest Bach picks up. Over a length of around 1100 m, the Lohbach then runs, accompanied by a narrow gallery forest , on the edge, but initially also within, the nature reserve to the northwest, passing the Wolfhagen district of Philippinenthal to the northeast. At the north-western end of the nature reserve, the stream describes a 350 m long 180-degree curve to the right, then again 400 m in a north-westerly direction through forest in a narrow valley between the Maiberg in the north-east and the Knechteberg in the south-west to its confluence not far to the east of the Schützeberger Hof , a former paper mill, to flow into the Erpe coming from the east.
