The railway line Frýdlant nad Ostravicí – Bílá is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic , which was originally built by the local railway Friedland – Bila (Czech: Místní dráha Frýdlant – Bílá ; MDFB, later FBD) as a state-guaranteed local railway . It leads in northern Moravia from Frýdlant nad Ostravicí ( Friedland an der Ostrawitza ) to Ostravice ( Ostrawitz ). The further route to Bílá ( Bila ) was closed in 1969 as a result of the construction of the Šance dam .

According to a decree of the Czech government, the line has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.

history

On January 3rd, 1908, “ the Vice-President of the State Culture Council for Moravia, Dr. Cyrill Seifert in Napagedl in association with the central director of the Prince Archbishop's estates Monsignor Julian Roska in Kremsier granted the requested concession to build and operate a standard-gauge local train from the Friedland station of the kk Ostrau-Friedlander Eisenbahn to Bila ”. Part of the concession was the obligation to start construction of the line immediately and to finish it within a year. The company's share capital was 1,538,000 kroner in 400 common shares of 3,845 kroner each. The company was based in Friedland.

The line was opened on August 16, 1908. Until 1909 the line was operated by the privately owned Austro-Hungarian State Railway Company (Operations Directorate Brünn-Czernowitz), then the Friedland – Biela local railway carried out its own operations.

In 1912, the local railway's timetable showed three mixed pairs of 2nd and 3rd class trains every day, and on Sundays and public holidays another was added to and from Ostrawitz. Until September 30th, a passenger train ran on Sundays " if the weather was good ", which drove to Bila in the morning and back in the evening for day trippers. The travel time for the 23-kilometer route was well over an hour.

After the Second World War, in October 1945, the Friedland – Bila local railway was nationalized and the line was integrated into the ČSD network. The Ostravice – Bílá section was closed on January 11, 1965 due to the construction of the Šance dam .

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

In the 2012 annual timetable, the route will be served by passenger trains at approximately one- hour intervals.

In 1907 and 1909, the operations management Brno-Chernivtsi acquired two four-coupled tank locomotives with the numbers 40004 and 41001 for the Friedland-Bila local railway , as they were also used on the other local railways in the StEG's operation.

Some locomotives of the ČSD class 422.0 also drove on this route. The inventory number of the railway company was FBD 410 , at the ČSD it was listed as series 422.9 .

Another four-coupled locomotive was procured in 1924 as the 424.001 from První Česko-moravská (PČM) in Prague . The structural model was the tank locomotives of the class 423.0 , which were procured by the ČSD at the same time , but the FBD locomotive, in contrast to these, was designed without running axles.

Between 1932 and 1934 the Friedland – Bila local railway also used a four-axle diesel multiple unit built by Škoda in Pilsen . The vehicle with the ČSD number M 234.001 was probably only used on loan, it never belonged to the Friedland – Bila local railway.
