Lothar Determann
Lothar Determann (born March 4, 1969 in Marburg ) is a German-American lawyer in California. In Silicon Valley he deals with IT law.
Life
Determann's parents are the physicist Hans Determann and the elementary school teacher Marie-Luise Determann geb. Giesel. After graduating from the Goetheschule Wetzlar (1988), Determann completed a two-year banking apprenticeship at Deutsche Bank in Munich . From 1990 he studied law with the legal history of France and common law at the University of Passau . In 1991 he became active in the Corps Budissa-Leipzig in Passau . After he had acquired all the prerequisites for admission to the exams, he moved to the Free University of Berlin to prepare for exams in 1993 . There he also joined the Corps Vandalia-Teutonia Berlin . On February 2, 1994, he passed the first state examination in law. In the same year he received the Klinggräff Medal . Since May 1994 research assistant at the Faculty of Law at the Free University of Berlin, from 1995 to 1997 he completed his legal clerkship at the Court of Appeal . On 30 January 1996 he was summa cum laude for Dr. iur. PhD . On October 7, 1997, he passed the assessor examination. Since July 7, 1999, he has qualified as a private lecturer and has taught Electronic Commerce Law in seminars and exercises . 1999 in Frankfurt as a lawyer admitted he went as Attorney at Law (California) to Baker & McKenzie in San Francisco and Palo Alto ; In 2002 he became a partner . As Visiting Associate Professor of Law , he lectured on Information Technology Law , Electronic Commerce Law , Data Privacy Law and Intellectual Property and Outsourcing at the University of San Francisco . As a Lecturer and Adjunct Professor he reads Computer Law at the University of California, Berkeley and Data Privacy Law at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law . Determann is a member of the Association of German Constitutional Law Teachers . In September 2019 he was one of about 100 constitutional law teachers who, with the open appeal for the right to vote, Downsized the Bundestag! turned to the German Bundestag .
