Louis Hugo Alexander von Beeren (born May 12, 1811 in Zeitz ; † December 28, 1899 in Naumburg (Saale) ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and commandant of the Königstein Fortress .

Life

origin

His parents were Karl Anton Ernst Friedrich von Beeren (1773-1824) and his wife Johanna Friederike Christiane Lämmerhirt (1777-1817). The marriage was divorced on August 11, 1817. His father was Colonel a. D. and commander of the 11th Infantry Regiment.

Military career

Beeren joined the 32nd Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army on July 26, 1828 and was promoted to second lieutenant by mid-September 1830 . Since May 10, 1834 he was used as a battalion adjutant. From February 28, 1845 to 1848 he was assigned as a company commander to the 32nd Landwehr Regiment, during which time he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on December 12, 1846 . From 1849 to 1850 he was assigned to the 4th Combined Reserve Battalion as a company commander. From there he came on November 9, 1850 as a captain and company commander in the 32nd Infantry Regiment. On April 14, 1857 he was promoted to major and transferred to the 28th Landwehr Regiment, where he was commander of the 1st battalion in Cologne . On July 1, 1860, he was assigned to the 28th Combined Infantry Regiment as a battalion leader, but on July 1, 1860 he was battalion commander in the 68th Infantry Regiment . Promoted to lieutenant colonel on October 18, 1861, he became commander of the Fusilier Battalion of the 32nd Infantry Regiment on July 1, 1862. He was commissioned on April 7, 1863 with the command of Grenadier Regiment No. 1 , promoted to colonel on September 22, 1863 and confirmed as commander. On the occasion of the festival in January 1866 he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class with a bow.

During the war against Austria in 1866, Beeren fought near Trautenau , Tobitschau and Königgrätz . On September 20, 1866 he received the Crown Order III. Class with swords. He was promoted to command of the 40th Infantry Brigade on October 30, 1866 and promoted to major general on December 31 , 1866 with a patent . Left in his position, he became commander of the ducal Braunschweig contingent on October 1, 1867, and on May 9, 1868 he received the Commander's Cross First Class of the Order of Henry the Lion . On January 23, 1870, he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd Class with Oak Leaves, and on July 14, 1870, he was transferred to the Königstein Fortress as a commander. There he received the character of lieutenant general on August 18, 1870 . On November 9, 1872 with the Grand Cross of the Albrechts Order excellent, he became the Red Eagle II. Class with oak leaves with March 13, 1873 ceremony of the star board for disposition made. From this point on, the Königstein headquarters was again occupied by a Saxon officer, successor to Major General Bernhard von Leonhardi . On April 24, 1873, he received 200 thalers from the Prussian side for his moving costs. The general had made a name for himself among the population by holding numerous welfare concerts at the fortress.

He died on December 28, 1899 in Naumburg (Saale) as a knight of the Order of St. John .

family

Beeren married Anna Henriette Albertine Franz (1813–1849) on June 8, 1842 in Halle (Saale ). The couple had several children:

  • Bertha (* 1845) ⚭ Kurt Weber, Saxon major general
  • Werner (* 1846), Prussian lieutenant colonel ⚭ 1877 Marie Breithaupt (* 1856)

After the death of his first wife, he married Cäcilie Hartmann (1831–1908) in Erfurt on October 20, 1852 , with whom he had the following children:

  • Anna Johanna Karoline (* 1853) ⚭ Konrad Kalau vom Hofe (1848–1914), Privy Councilor of Justice
  • Ernst (* 1856), planter in Sumatra ⚭ Maria Pauline Sandel (* 1859), a sister of the photographer Paul Sandel
  • Heinrich (1860–1900)
