Love Happens is an American romantic film , starring Aaron Eckhart and Jennifer Aniston . The film opened in German cinemas on November 12, 2009.

The widower Dr. Burke Ryan is the author of a very successful guide book and he also holds self-help seminars. However, he cannot cope with the death of his wife and hides behind a facade. While leading a seminar in Seattle , he met Eloise, a florist who provided flowers to the hotel. It helps him to understand that he cannot cope with the death of his wife with self-deception and reticence. In the end he realizes this and can free himself from this loss, whereby he can also make peace with his father-in-law. At the end of the film, Ryan and Eloise come together through his decision and a new beginning begins for him.

Reviews

FILMSTARTS.de thinks that a strong first half is followed by a "questionable second". The film, with its "mourning theme at the beginning, is still intelligent and empathetic", but it slips "in the direction of trivial wisdom".

Kino.de writes that the "balance of the film between sensitive, funny and touching" is right. The portrayals of John Carroll Lynch and Martin Sheen are praised here .
