Lubicz (German: Lindow ) is a village in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland .

Geographical location

The village is located in Western Pomerania about 30 kilometers south of Stettin in a landscape characterized by lakes and hills. A main road leads through the village from Widuchowa ( Fiddichow ), which is about seven kilometers away in the west, to Pyrzyce ( Pyritz ) in the east. Neighboring villages are Pacholęta ( Pakulent ) in the north, Babinek ( Heinrichsdorf ) in the east and Kłodowo ( Kladow ) and Krzywin ( Kehrberg ) in the south .

The Breslau – Stettin railway with the Widuchowa station ( Wilhelmsfelde-Fiddichow station ) runs about three kilometers west of the village .

history

Lindow is first mentioned in a document in 1312. In later loan letters it is also referred to as a patch or town , but the further history is that of a village.

In the 16th century the Lindow estate was divided, the greater part belonged to the von Trampe family , the smaller to the von Pakulent family . In the 18th century, the greater part came to the von Steinäcker family, the smaller to the Wildenbruch rule . Around 1779 Lindow had a total of 40 households ("fire places").

Until 1945, Lindow formed a rural community in the Greifenhagen district of the Prussian province of Pomerania . In addition to Lindow, the community also included the Wilhelmsfelde-Fiddichow station , Chausseehaus Wilhelmsfelde , Fischerhaus , Stephanshöhe and Wilhelmsfelde residential areas .

After 1945, Lindow, like all of Western Pomerania, came to Poland. Lindow was given the Polish name Lubicz .
