Luciana De Simoni

Luciana De Simoni (born March 24, 1957 in Frascati , Province of Udine ) is an Italian medalist .

Career

Luciana De Simoni trained as a goldsmith at a state art school in Marino , Lazio region . In the following years she was able to deepen the knowledge of driving , lost wax casting and jewelry design acquired in a goldsmith's workshop. In 1978 she began studying at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma and was designed by Pericle Fazzini in sculpting taught. With Emilio Greco she learned the basics of copperplate engraving and medal cutting . She also attended courses at the Scuola dell'Arte della Medaglia - Giuseppe Romagnoli of the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato .

In 1982 De Simoni won a competition organized by the Istituto Poligrafico. In the following years she designed for the institute, which both government printing as well as mint acts, stamps and other philatelic products. As a medalist and engraver, she has been involved in the design and manufacture of medals and coins since 1987. In addition to the Italian euro coin at 2 cents, De Simoni designed the Mole Antonelliana , a series of 2 euro commemorative coins and collector coins for Italy, San Marino and the Vatican . She teaches goldsmithing at a state art school. De Simoni lives and works in Rome .
