Lusa - Agência de Notícias de Portugal, SA is a Portuguese news agency.

It was founded in December 1986 as a joint stock company in Lisbon . The main shareholder is the Portuguese state. The headquarters and central editorial office are located on Rua Dr. João Couto, in the Benfica district . Lusa distributes national and international news to newspapers, magazines, radio, television and websites worldwide.

A primary focus of the agency is the production of articles and features about the Portuguese-speaking world; it thus mainly delivers to media of lusophony . Outside Portugal, these are customers in Angola , Brazil , Guinea-Bissau , Cape Verde , Mozambique , Macau and East Timor . In addition to Lisbon, Lusa has six other regional editorial offices as well as offices in Brussels , Madrid , Berlin , Beijing , Luanda , Maputo , Bissau , Praia , Macau and Dili .

Every day, Lusa distributes a service of 300 to 400 articles, 30 to 50 press photos, five to ten videos and ten to twenty audio messages. The photos are compiled by our own photo journalists and also in cooperation with foreign partner agencies. That is why Lusa is involved in the European Pressphoto Agency , whose partner is the German Press Agency . At the end of December 2009, Lusa presented an operating result of 1,083,510.14 euros.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors is Amável Afonso Barata Camões.

On May 19, 2012, the Lusa was awarded the Insígnia des Ordem de Timor-Leste by East Timor's President José Ramos-Horta .
