Leuthen was first mentioned in 1330 as Luthin . The village was also mentioned in 1336 as Leuthen , in 1360 as Lewten and Lwthen and in 1361 as Lüthen .

On December 5, 1757 , Frederick the Great defeated the twice as strong Austrian army under Prince Karl of Lorraine, a brother-in-law of Maria Theresa , with superior warfare (so-called " crooked order ") in the Battle of Leuthen , thus laying one of the foundations for the Rise of Prussia as the fifth major European power in the Seven Years War (1756–1763).

In 1845 the village consisted of 114 houses, a Protestant church, a Protestant school and a farm. In the same year 732 people lived in Leuthen, 173 of them Catholic.

In 1933 there were 1055 residents in Leuthen. In 1939, 119 people lived in the village again. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Neumarkt

In 1945 the previously German town of Goldmoor became part of Poland and was renamed Lutynia and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Wroclaw Voivodeship and in 1999 the place came to Powiat Średzki .

Parish Church of St. Joseph

The Catholic St. Joseph's Church is located in the center of the village on today's Koscielna Street. The church was built in the 14th century. The church building received its current appearance in the 16th century. After damage during the Battle of Leuthen, the church was renovated in 1757. Between 1867 and 1869 the church was restored and the interior was given a neo-Gothic interior. Around the church there is a defensive wall from the 17th century and an archway with ornaments from the Renaissance . The interior is from the 17th, 18th and 20th centuries. Underneath, a St. Anna altar from the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries has been preserved. The church has been a listed building since 1963.

Memorial to the Battle of Leuthen

In 1852 a memorial was built northwest of the village to commemorate the Battle of Leuthen on December 5, 1757. The monument consisted of a granite column with a goddess of victory standing on it. The figure was designed by Christian Daniel Rauch . Most of the memorial was removed after 1945. Today only the lower part of the column remains. An inscription has also been preserved. In 2011 the remains of the monument were restored.
