Ljudi Inwalidy ( Russian Люди Инвалиды "disabled people") is the fourth studio album by the former Russian singing duo tATu , or their second Russian-language album. It was published in Russia on October 21, 2005 and was later published in some Eastern European countries as well as in Germany and Mexico .

Originally, the release of a second Russian-language album under the working title Podnebesnaja was planned for 2004, and work on it began in Moscow in January 2004. The Russian filmmaker Witali Manski accompanied and filmed the duo and their environment during the earlier production process. This TV documentary was broadcast under the title " tATu w Podnebesnoi " on the Russian channel STS . The songs Ja Budu (not included on the album), Lyudi inwalidy , Ty soglasna , Nitschja and Tschto ne chwatajet were sung and recorded under the direction of tATu's manager and producer at the time, Ivan Schapovalov . In early 2004, however, tATu separated from Shapovalov and did not renew their contract with him. The reasons for this were differences in the selection of songs and the promotion of the album, which is soon to be released, as well as the accusation that Shapovalov would not pay the two singers their salary. In addition, he used the filming of "tATu w Podnebesnoi", which was taking place at the same time, to promote and market his other projects.
Due to the separation of the group from their manager and Julija Wolkowa's pregnancy, work on the album was delayed considerably, giving it the character of a comeback album. All songs already recorded with Schapowalow have been significantly changed in their sound, partly also in the text, so that Schapowalow is only mentioned as the songwriter for the song Lyudi inwalidy in the album booklet .
In contrast to the previous albums 200 Po Wstretschnoi and 200 km / h in the Wrong Lane , Dangerous and Moving and Ljdui Inwalidy are less similar . While the first two albums mentioned have seven common songs (i.e. songs translated from Russian into English; remixes and bonus tracks not included), the two follow-up albums each contain only four common compositions.

In the week of its release, over 100,000 copies of the album were sold in Russia. This sales figure was comparable to that of the previous album , 200 Po Wstretschnoi , but buyer interest quickly ebbed. The album was sold over 350,000 times in Russia and was awarded a platinum record . It is one of the fastest selling albums of the year, but not one of the most successful. The gigantic success of their first Russian-language album could not be repeated, but tATu still managed to make a musical comeback and build on their old successes in their homeland. The success in the Eastern European countries, such as Poland , Slovakia and the Czech Republic, was significantly less than with the previous album . As expected, the album failed to enter the charts in Germany and Mexico.
In Russia, the album title and the album booklet also caused quite a stir. Ljudi Inwalidy means something like "disabled people", which was a reason to criticize the album and the band sharply. The Komi Republic's human rights commissioner even called for criminal proceedings against tATu, which did not materialize. Katina and Wolkowa explained that the name of the album is not an allusion to physically handicapped or disabled people, but refers to the moral decline of society. In addition, a text is printed in the album booklet which, translated into German, reads as follows:
“ Ljudi Inwalidy are born as they will die. They don't know what it means to be human, they are a fake, a doll made from human-like tickets. They have legs, hands, other parts of the body, you cannot physically tell them apart from a person, but Ljudi Inwalidy are not alive, they work. Their functions are dictated by mechanical laws and four other clues: cruelty, stupidity, greed and wickedness. ЖГЖП . Everything they do is effective, predictable, underexposed and destructive. All bad, very bad and terrible incidents are the result of the machinations of the Ljudi Inwalidy . We live among them and rarely notice these great human fakes. "
ЖГЖП , transliterated ZH-G-ZH-P , stands for Ж естокость (cruelty), Г лупость (stupidity), Ж адность (greed) and П одлость (malice), the first letters of the four mentioned identifiers.
Single releases
The song Ljudi inwalidy was decoupled from the album on September 1 and released as a single. It reached number 63 in the Russian charts and lasted for 19 weeks. Two remix versions of the song were also released: the GloBass Remix on October 10th and the Pimenov Radio Mix on November 1st. The second named was made by Sergei Pimenow under the name PPK , although the group had been dissolved since 2004. Both remixes were played on Russian radio.
criticism
The Russian music columnist Vadim Ponomarew describes Lyudi Inwalidy in his article at the end of the year as “the best pop album of 2005” and praises it as “powerful and perfectly produced”. The Russian daily Kommersant wrote that the songs had “an energetic, modern pop sound” with “roaring guitars and rumbling synthesizers”.
